Our Story
Hi. I’m Michelle Thompson. I live with my husband and our 10-year-old son in Edwardsville, IL. I have always loved animals, especially dogs. I’ve had pets my entire life and believed our family wasn’t complete without a fur baby in our household.
My son started begging for a puppy when he was 3 years old. I taught him about the responsibilities of owning a pet and decided to buy him a dog for his 6th birthday. He was obsessed with the cartoon, Puppy Dog Pals, and asked if we could get a pug and name him Rolly. I searched the AKC Marketplace and found a breeder. Before long, we were bringing 8-week-old Rolly home. Anyone who was familiar with pugs kept telling us he needed a companion. We were so in love with Rolly that it was easy to make the decision to add Molly to our family 3 months later.
I became a hobby breeder when Rolly and Molly took it upon themselves to make some babies. I was still flirting with the idea of breeding them when, one morning, my 7-year-old son came running into my bedroom hollering, “Mama, something’s happened! Rolly’s balls are stuck to Molly’s butt!” Sure enough, Rolly had figured out Molly was in heat before we did, and they had tied. We had pups in two months.
Eight weeks later, we were sending a group of beautiful puppies to their forever homes, and we hated to see them go, but the excitement and joy we saw on everyone’s faces was worth every bit of love and commitment that we had invested during the first two months of their lives. We knew, then, that breeding pugs would be something we would continue.
Breeding should always be about bettering the breed of animal, so we have a very close relationship with our veterinarian. Our pups are vet checked, dewormed, and UTD on vaccinations when leaving our home. We go to Heartland Veterinary Hospital here in Edwardsville, IL. We also felt it was important to genetically test our parents so as not to breed pugs that have genetic markers for Degenerative Myelopathy, Primary Lens Luxation, Pug Dog Encephalitis, and Pyruvate Kinase Disease. All of our parents have no markers for any of these illnesses. Our pups are all AKC registered and come with a registration application that I suggest you complete and submit. We feed our pups a high quality, vet recommended diet (Purina Pro Plan) and we send a baggy of food home with you.
We love all of our babies and always look forward to getting to know their new families. We also love for families to stay in touch with updates, pictures, and videos of all of our fur babies as they grow and learn. If you’d like to get to know our family better or inquire about one of our babies, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
